There is a 17 acre dam and a 5 acre dam on Bellwood. The dams are stocked twice a year with 9 inch and 1.5kg brown and rainbow trout.

The Bellwood trout dams are used for the Nottingham Road Land Rover Sponsored Trout Fishing Competitions. Rowing boats are provided for the leisure and pleasure of Bellwood guests.

The hiring of rods and fishing lessons can be arranged. Sorry - No day visitors or fishermen.

Only trout rods and tackle allowed for fishing in these dams.

Bellwood is the home to numerous bird species. A record of birds seen on Bellwood is kept and provided to guests.

Bellwood offers spectacular walks and is the home to a large variety of indigenous flora and fauna. Many are labeled for guests convenience.

There are three graded walks ranging from a 2km easy walk to a 5km more strenuous walk with maps provided for guests.

A number of small exceptional weddings have been held at Bellwood. One such wedding the guests had a picnic using hay bales. Small conferences (12 – 16 people) are held at Bellwood with all conferencing facilities available for use.

We have four golf courses within easy reach of Bellwood – Mooi River course, Gowrie Farm, Bosch Hoek, Howick Golf Club,and Sakabula Golf Club. Games can be arranged through Bellwood.

Bellwood Stud is a working stud that breeds and stables race horses. Whilst the guests enjoy the stud atmosphere, only experienced jockeys ride these horses. There are horse-riding facilities close to Bellwood and we can arrange bookings on request. Prior notice is required.

The Midlands Meander is situated in the countryside of the uMgungundlovu district, one of eight regions of the Zulu Kingdom. The Meander is a country route winding through a number of small villages which offers visitors a rich experience in historic and cultural diversity. It has become the home to many artists and has the added attraction of the opportunity to visit the many arts and crafts galleries.

The Bellwood jungle gym is loads of fun!

There are wide open spaces for children to run wild, get dirty and have fun. There is also a children’s playground to entertain them for hours.

There is never a dull moment and city kids can experience the excitement of foals and calves being born and see how mielies / maize and cabbages are planted and harvested. The farm is a magical place for kids with ducks, chickens, horses and cows.

Fishing and boating is available for children under parental supervision. Horse riding and fishing lessons can be arranged on request but prior notice is required.
